Skardu, Pakistan
50 Days
Starting from $10,500
Climb the world’s eleventh-highest mountain with Pamir Crest Adventure Tours.
At 8,080 meters, Gasherbrum I, known as Hidden Peak, stands deep in the Karakoram and is a rewarding objective for climbers ready to step up to a serious 8,000er. Our 40-day expedition is designed for experienced high-altitude climbers who want a well-organized, fully supported attempt on the summit.
The journey
You arrive in Islamabad, where our expedition team takes care of permits, gear checks, and travel to Skardu, the gateway to the Karakoram. From there you trek up the Baltoro Glacier, past Concordia and its views of the great peaks, to Gasherbrum Base Camp.
On the mountain
Acclimatization rotations begin soon after you settle into base camp, building your body’s tolerance to altitude step by step. The summit window depends on weather and how the team is performing. Experienced high-altitude guides, rope-fixing crews, and support staff work together to keep the climb as safe and efficient as possible.
Why climb with us?
From airport pickup to summit push to safe return, we’re with you at every stage.
Reserve your place on our next Gasherbrum I expedition today.

Equipment List We are providing you with three lists for the Trek. List 1 and 2 contain items and equipments that you must bring. The third list contains optional items you might need on your trekking holiday. Based on your own judgment you can select things that you might need from the third list.
List 1 – Must Bring Items:
List 2 – Mountaineering Equipments:
List 3 – Optional:
Minimum Group Participants and holiday Status The required number of participant bookings i.e. six (6) registrations are required to conduct the “Fixed departures”. Although we receive several guests for each fixed departure, we feel that it is important to mention it. You can make sure of the trip status on this page. Status “available” means we are registering guests and “guaranteed” means we have crossed the required number of participants and the trip will commence on the given dates. We will constantly be in touch with all our guests who register. We will timely guide you step by step regarding visa applications and flight reservations to Pakistan etc.
Travel Documents & Visa In order to apply for visas to Pakistan, you generally need a passport expiring later than (6) months. For more reliable and updated information, we suggest you to contact the nearest Pakistani consulate or embassy in your country. We expect that you will take full responsibility for ensuring you have the right travel documents. Normally if you are visiting non-EU countries, you must check for 2 vacant pages in your travel document (passport) for every country you plan to travel. A tourist visa (visit visa) is required to come to Pakistan for trekking. People on work visas (already in Pakistan/abroad) require a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) which normally takes up to 6 weeks. The requirements and fee for tourist visas to Pakistan is normally around 200 USD but for accurate information you should consult Pakistani consulates nearby. To apply for a tourist visa, you will need a Letter of Invitation from our company and sometimes a duplicate (copy) of the “government trekking permit” for the group, processed by us. We will help you with all necessary documents to obtain the visa once you register with us.
1. Team building: It takes time to formulate a good team. We go through all incoming applications and formulate the best team of mountaineers (on the basis of experience). Although our vet process is not very strict, our top priority is always the safety of fellow climbers. We will not accept all applications only to maximize the number of the mountaineers.
2. Logistics: Our climbing adventures involve a lot of logistics. This includes reserving/assigning high altitude porters, guides and other staff in advance. It also involves a lot of procurement (equipment, food etc). This is not possible during the last hours. During winters expeditions, most of the supplies are transported to base camps two to three months prior to the expedition because winters in the mountains of Pakistan are very harsh and it becomes almost impossible to for porters to walk through the trail with heavy supplies.
3. Climbing Permit: Pakistani government tourism laws require tour operators to submit applications for climbing (along with all documents e.g. passport copies, photos, etc) at least 55 days prior to arrival in Pakistan.
4.Domestic Flights: We might not be able to get you on the domestic flight to Skardu if you do not pay your deposit on time. Domestic flight seats are sold very fast way ahead of time because there are only two flights to Skardu during peak season. This is a very serious concern.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICIES
By the Joint Expedition Team:
If the minimum requirement of 6 participants not be met by April 30, 2025, deposits will be refunded within 7 days, subject to the deduction of transfer fees and based on the prevailing exchange rate at the time of the refund.
By Participants/Clients:
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Refund Requests after cancellations from the client (for balance payments)
All international climbers are charged in US Dollars (USD) or equivalent in GBP or EUR.
Due to the nature and heavy costs of government and operator permits, Pamir Crest Adventure Tours must follow a precise refund policy.
Gasherbrum I is one of the highest peaks in the world. It is among the 14 peaks above 8,000 m. Gasherbrum I is the world’s 11th highest peak and Pakistan’s 3rd highest peak and 2nd highest peak in the Karakoram Range. Gasherbrum I is located on the frontier of Pakistan and China. The Gasherbrum I Expedition has been added to the wish list by many climbers recently.
Gasherbrum I is also known as “K5” or the “Hidden Peak.” It earned the name Hidden Peak because of its remote location and visibility. It is part of the Gasherbrum Massif along Gasherbrum II, Gasherbrum III, Broad Peak, and others. “Gasherbrum” means “a beautiful mountain” in the local Balti language.
The first ever attempt on Gasherbrum I was made by a French expedition in 1936. H. De Segogne was leading the expedition. They were not very lucky with the ascent, as they could not climb ahead of Camp 5 at an elevation of 6797m. The first successful campaign of Gasherbrum I was on 5th July, 1958, by an American Expedition consisting of 8 climbers, and this campaign was led by Nich Clinch; however, Andy Kaufman and Pete Schoening were the first climbers to reach the summit.
Although the Gasherbrum I Expedition is not as popular as other 8000 m peaks, the overall count of climbers on this magnificent peak is less than 200. Additionally, the overall death toll rate on the Gasherbrum I Expedition is minimal compared to other 8000m peaks, but the most important fact on the Gasherbrum I Expedition is that only experienced and technically sound climbers aim to conquer a strenuous peak like Gasherbrum I.
The most frequent route on the Gasherbrum I Expedition is to attack on the western edge, as it leads to all routes on “The Japanese Couloir.” The Japanese Couloir is situated on the pinnacle of the northwest face, although the first ascent was made via the Spur Peak and then following the long south ridge leading to the summit.
