Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Islamabad

  • Reception at Islamabad International Airport and transfer to the hotel.

  • Briefing about the tour and a short visit to the Faisal Mosque or Daman-e-Koh for a view of the city.

  • Overnight: Islamabad

Day 2 Islamabad to Chilas / Naran

  • Departure for the North via the Karakoram Highway (KKH).

  • Stop at the Besham or Naran (if Babusar Pass is open).

  • Highlights: Scenic views of the Kaghan Valley or the Indus River.

  • Overnight: Chilas or Naran.

Day 3 Drive to Karimabad, Hunza

  • Continue the drive to Central Hunza.

  • Stops: The Junction Point of three great mountain ranges (Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hindukush) and the Rakaposhi Viewpoint (7,788m) for lunch.

  • Overnight: Karimabad.

Day 4 The Historical Walk (Baltit & Altit)

  • Morning: Guided walk through the cobblestone streets of Karimabad to the Baltit Fort (900 years old).

  • Afternoon: A scenic walk along the ancient water channels to Altit Village. Explore the Altit Fort and the Royal Garden (Kha Basi).

  • Walking Trail: The “Water Channel Walk”—a flat, peaceful trail used by locals.

  • Overnight: Karimabad.

Day 5: Ganish Village & Hopar Valley

  • Visit Ganish, the oldest settlement on the Silk Road in Hunza, known for its restored watchtowers and traditional mosques.
  • Drive to Hopar Valley (Nagar) to see the Hopar Glacier.

  • Walking Trail: A short trek down to the edge of the glacier to experience the “living” ice.

  • Overnight: Karimabad or Duikar.

Day 6: Sunrise at Duikar & Drive to Gulmit

  • Early morning hike to the “Eagles Nest” in Duikar for a 360-degree sunrise view of seven 7,000m+ peaks.

  • Drive to Upper Hunza (Gojal).

  • Stop at Attabad Lake for a boat ride across the turquoise waters.

  • Overnight: Gulmit.

Day 7: Gulmit Cultural Trail & Borith Lake

  • Walking Tour: Explore the historic village of Gulmit. Visit the local museum and the Bulbulik Music School.

  • Walk from Gulmit to Borith Lake (approx. 2 hours) through the potato and apricot orchards.

  • Experience: Afternoon tea with a local family to learn about Wakhi culture.

  • Overnight: Gulmit or Passu.

Day 8: Passu Suspension Bridge & Glacier Walk

  • Hike to the Hussaini Suspension Bridge, often called the “world’s most dangerous bridge.”

  • Continue walking toward the Passu Glacier viewpoint.

  • Highlights: Views of the iconic Passu Cones (Cathedral Peaks).

  • Overnight: Passu.

 

Day 9: Khunjerab Pass (Pak-China Border)

  • A full-day excursion to the highest paved border crossing in the world (4,693m).

  • Look for wildlife like Marmots, Ibex, and the elusive Snow Leopard in the National Park.

  • Return to Passu/Gulmit.

  • Overnight: Passu.

Day 10: Drive back to Gilgit

  • Drive back down the KKH toward Gilgit.

  • Visit the Kargah Buddha, a 7th-century rock carving.

  • Explore the Gilgit Bazaar and the suspension bridges over the Gilgit River.

  • Overnight: Gilgit.

Day 11: Drive to Besham / Chilas

  • Return journey via the Karakoram Highway.

  • Final views of the Nanga Parbat massif.

  • Overnight: Besham

Day 12: Return to Islamabad & Departure

  • Drive back to Islamabad.

  • Farewell dinner in the evening at Monal Restaurant overlooking the city lights.

  • Transfer to the airport for late-night flights.
